Institute for Ethics & Meaning/Earth Charter Initiative – The Earth Charter, an international people's Declaration of Interdependence was written over the course of 12 years by thousands of people (not organizations or governments) in 78 countries and launched at The Hague Peace Palace in June 2000. Mikhail Gorbachev played a key role in shifting the drafting of the Earth Charter from nations' governments to people through an unprecedented open grassroots drafting process around the globe. The Earth Charter is an international people’s treaty for justice, peace and sustainability. It outlines the shared values for promoting and bringing into reality the eradication of poverty, abolishment of discrimination, protection and restoration of the environment and the creation of a peaceful and non-violent world. The Earth Charter's international headquarters are in Costa Rica. Grassroots activities in the U.S. are coordinated by the Institute for Ethics and Meaning in Tampa, Florida. www.earthcharter.org

Prodigal Sun – Alternative Global Power Solutions. Prodigal Sun was created to research and develop new applications for existing renewable energy technology and to promote the use of renewable energy resources and alternative fuels. Their current objective is to purchase land in Costa Rica for the development of a research facility, housing area for visiting scientists and their families, and a dormitory for visiting high school students. www.prodigalsun.org
